White Wines

£ per bottle
(75cl)
Inc Vat
NV Il Banchetto Bianco Tavola

£4.50
An extremely useful wine from the Tenimenti Winery in the heart of Soave country. Clean as a whistle with a crisp floral nose. On the palate this wine is light and fruity with a fresh lemony finish.
2008 GPG Garganega Pinot Grigio £5.75
Subtle and delicate nose with soft apple, lemon and walnut fruit. Dry but soft on the palate with gentle refreshing citrus notes and crisp acidity.

2008 Pinot Grigio, Conviviale

£6.75
A crisp and lively dry wine, lightly aromatic with characters of peach and citrus fruits on the nose. Medium bodied with fresh lemon fruit, underlying hints of nuts and a gentle honeyed finish .

2009 Poggiotondo Bianco, Tuscany

£8.95
A lovely fresh white from Tuscany. A blend of Vermentino, Malvasia and Trebbiano, and aged in stainless steel. Perfumed with a grape and citrus aroma, quite floral with hints of flower and almond. It's really lively and fresh on the palate with citrus, stone fruits, hints of spice and good acidity. Really tangy and zesty, yet with good depth on the palate. Bring on the seafood!

2007 Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Riccardo Falchini, Tuscany

£9.95
The only white Tuscan to be awarded the coveted DOCG seal from the Italian Authorities - not that anybody cares about that! We think this wine is gorgeous: bright, crisp and packed full of ripe citrus fruits.

2009 Gavi di Tassarolo Terraroasa, La Zerba, Piedmont

£12.00
The wine is pale yellow with light green highlights. It has a warm, rich bouquet of honeydew melon laced with citrus, supported by herbs and thyme. Pleasing and complex, on the palate it's round and full, with excellent structure and a long and persistent finish. Works well as an aperitif, and with fish or vegetarian dishes. Drink now - 2012.

2008 Verdicchio di Matelica, La Monesca

£12.95
This is La Monesca's introduction to the wonderful world of Verdicchio. With a short period of lees aging and a slightly earlier harvest, the wine leans more towards racy acidity and a hints of honeysuckle. Think of this as Italy's version of Chablis.

2008 Soave Classico, Inama

£13.85
Stefano Inama makes one of the best examples of high quality, classic Soave with plenty of mineral character. Drink now-2012.

Rosé Wines

2009 Pinot Grigio Rosé, Ancora £5.95
A delicious Pinot Grigio Rosé. Light and refreshing in style with subtle cherry and summer fruit flavours.

Red Wines

£ per bottle
(75cl)
Inc Vat
NV Il Banchetto Rosso Tavola

£4.50
A characterful light red with bright cherry fruit and a touch of cedar and spice. Supple and forward on the palate with a soft clean fruity finish. Excellent party wine!

2008 Sangiovese di Puglia, Ancora

£5.25
Soft and lightly spicy with succulent red berry flavours. Very easy to drink.

2009 Nero d’Avola, Borgo Selene, Sicily

£6.50
Made by Alberto Antonori, and produced from selected grapes in central Sicily. This delicious red is ruby red in colour with fresh notes of red berries, cherries and plums. It is round and smooth on the palate with lovely soft tannins.

2005 Vereto Salice Salentino, Puglia

£8.25
Deep colour and an intense nose that combines black cherry with classic Puglia earthiness. Concentrated yet supple, this is a glorious bottle of wine.

2007 Chianti Colli dei Senesi, Riccardo Falchini, Tuscany

£10.50
A really rather lovely Chianti that's great value for money. It has structure and concentration but still maintains a lovely cherry-like acidity, finding all of these components at this price is often very difficult.

2008 Valpolicella, Allegrini, Veneto

£11.00
This estate is a superstar and wining more awards than anyone else in Italy! This wine captures the vibrant, red cherry essence of young Valpolicella and makes the perfect accompaniment to ham and charcuterie.

2008 Barbera d’Alba, Marco Porello, Piedmont

£12.00
Deep purple in colour with aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, and kirsch. Medium-bodied with delicious raspberry fruit and a long clean finish. Ideal wine to have with meats, pasta, cheese and charcuterie.

2008 Aglianico Terradora, Falanghina, Campania

£12.00
From a great Campanian producer with a proven track record, this is an unoaked and early drinking form of Aglianico. It shows plenty of dark cherry and depth that is typical of this local variety, yet with a nicely balanced tannic grip that makes it a far more seriously satisfying wine
than many other young, southern Italian reds.

2005 Barolo Rocchettevino, Bovio, Piedmont

£32.00
Baked fruit cake, coffee and chocolate on the nose. Dense earthy flavours of orange, smoky tea and tobacco on the palate. This is a classic drinking Barolo with relatively soft tannins for the Nebbiolo grape. Drink now-2015.

2005 Amarone del Valpollicella, Adalia, Veneto

£40.00
An intense and powerful expression of this Veronese classic. After 100 days of natural drying in the open air the grapes are crushed and are fermented in upright wooden fermenters. Amarone is then aged for at least two years in bottle before release. Deep ruby in colour, with rich and powerful notes of red cherry, damson, spice and mulberry.

PIO CESARE, PIEDMONT

We are agents for this historic family-owned estate. Named after its founder who established the business in 1881. It is based in Alba in the heart of the Piedmont region, nestled between the Alps and the mediterranean Sea. The surrounding hills provide ideal exposures for grape growing with unique micro-climates. The confluence of cold Alpine air with warm maritime moisture regularly creates a misty glow, or ‘nebbia’, over these foothills, hence Nebbiolo, the great red variety of the region.
2008 Gavi £85.00 (6x75cl)
100% Cortese. Clear straw yellow, with green tints, lightly aromatic with hints of almonds and floral scents on the nose. Ripe fruit, green apples and moss. Full and flavoursome, yet soft, with a daring hint of green fruit. Drink now-2012.

2008 Dolcetto d’Alba

£85.00 (6x75cl)
100% Dolcetto. Intense ruby red colour with glossy purple hues. A distinct and delicately grapey
nose, with a hint of raspberry and pepper. The palate is dry, supple and lively, with red currant and blueberry overtones. Drink now-2013.

2007 Barbera d’Alba £89.00 (6x75cl)
100% Barbera. Intense ruby colour with garnet reflections. Dark cherry tones with tobacco and
toasty hints on the nose with a plummy and spicy ripe blackberry. Drink now-2014.

2007 Nebbiolo d’Alba
£142.00 (6x75cl)
100% Nebbiolo. Intense garnet red, with an ethereal, greatly refined nose of delicate wild violets
and rose. The palate is full with blackberry, vanilla and spice. Drink now-2015.

2005 Barolo
£240.00 (6x75cl)

Aged in mid toasted French oak for 3 years. Dark ruby in colour with an ethereal violet scented
nose. The palate is stuffed with blackberry jam, liquorice and cloves. Drink now-2020.

Sweet Wines

£ per bottle
Inc Vat
2002 Vin Santo del Chianti, Riccardo Falchini, Tuscany £15.00

Late-harvested Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes are picked carefully by hand, and dried on straw matts. The raisins are then pressed and fermented slowly in cherry and chestnut wooden barrels and left to mature for four years. The result is sweet nectar!
