Spanish Wine

White wine

NV Rey Viejo Blanco, Galicia	£5.00
Light and refreshing Spanish white wine made mainly of Sauvignon Blanc and Airen. It has a delicate and floral nose with some subtle peachy fruit. The palate is bright, fresh and clean with some pleasant zesty acidity on the finish.
2008 Sabina Macabeo Chardonnay, Navarra	£6.25
A recently renovated estate on the stony alluvial terraces of the Ebro & Aragón rivers, this is a lively, lemony grapefruit scented dry white. The 2008 is marvellously fresh and clean .
2008 Viña Albina Barrel Fermented Blanco, Rioja	£8.95
Pale straw yellow colour. Peach and tropical fruit on the nose mingle with sweet, vanilla, oak spice. The palate is rich and nutty with herbal nuances. Well balanced with a lovely textured mouthfeel.
2008 K-Naia, Bodegas Naia, Rueda	£9.50
A wonderful Verdejo-Sauvignon blend, gently aromatic with subtle aromas. Brilliantly lemony on the palate with a racy finish.
2008 Quinta Apolonia, Belondrade y Lurton, Rueda	£13.95
An exceptional white wine specialist near Valladolid in Northern Castilla. Verdejo grapes produce unctuous wines with intensity and masses of ripe fruit. Truly delicious and next to the Albariño, this is Spain’s finest white.
2008 Albariño do Ferriero, Palacio de Fefinanes, Rias Baixas	£17.95
Clean mineral laced Albariño from a producer housed in a baronial palace! Juan Gil Careaga produces some of the best wine in the area. Fresh fruit aromas of apricot and peach with lemon, apple and honey on the palate. Delicious now, but will age well for a further 5 years.

Red Wine

NV Rey Viejo Tinto, Galicia	£5.00
Classic Spanish red made of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Merlot, bursting with juicy fresh red berries and soft velvety tannins. It is light and refreshing with a lovely violet edge to the finish.
2008 Sabina Tempranillo Cabernet Merlot, Navarra	£6.25
Primarily Tempranillo with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and three months in oak to add more depth. Fabulously dark in colour, it has a deep black fruit core with elements of fragrant, smoky oak and a long resonant finish.
2008 Artesa Rioja Tempranillo	£6.75
A youthful fruity Spanish red wine with a deep ruby colour, ripe red berry aromas and soft plum and cherry fruit on the palate.
2008 Rioja Tinto Sin, Mirador de Navajas	£8.00
Brilliant ruby red in colour with a hint of violet, this young fruity and vibrant wine has mouth watering black fruits of the forest. Light and luscious with a medium intensity finish.
2007 Castell del Remei Gotim Bru, Catalonia	£9.50
Gotim Bru is a blend of 60% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot aged for 10 months in French and American oak. Purple-coloured, it has a fragrant nose of spice, tobacco, blueberry, and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, this ripe, tasty wine should evolve for 2-3 years but who is going to wait? It is delicious now!
2006 Vega del Rayo Rioja Reserva	£10.25
An intense wine, classically designed and crafted. Plum and blackberry fruit aromas, well balanced with sweet vanilla and warm spices from the ageing in wood. Silky on the palate with an elegant finish.
2008 Barbazul, Huerta de Albala, Andalucia	£10.45
50% Tintilla de Rota, 35% Syrah, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for five months in one and two year old French Allier barrels creating a vibrant and very individual red. Aromas of red berries, citrus fruit, fig leaves and aromatic herbs fill your glass on their way to a rich and impressive finish. Its producer Huerta de Albala is possibly the most significant development in Andalucian winemaking since the creation of Sherry!
2004 Gran Recosind Criança,Costa Brava	£11.00
This is a delicious wine displaying soft fruit and warm spice flavours and aromas. It is rich and well structured emphasizing mature fruit and well integrated oak.
2007 Sembro, Ribera del Duero	£12.00
A wine with a high aromatic intensity of fresh forest fruits and subtle spices from maturation in the barrel. A full bodied wine in the mouth with sumptuous flavours of dark fruits and a good long finish. A great value for money wine from the Ribera del Duero.
1998 Viña AlbinaGran Reserva, Rioja	£21.00
Cherry red with tawny hues. The nose is quite striking and fresh, but still reveals the typical old wood and dried fruit characteristics of a Rioja Gran Reserva. The wine has an elegant, velvety texture and the ripe, fruit flavours are balanced by an appealing savoury character. A mature and wonderful wine.
2004 Mauro, Ribera del Duero	£30.00
Harmony and finesse mark this elegant red. It offers black cherry, toast and spice flavours over firm tannins, with a grace that almost hides its intensity. A fabulous wine that will benefit from cellaring for a further 10 years or more.

Sweet Wines

This is an unctuous, concentrated, and bright dessert wine that beautifully embodies the Moscatel grape. Intense aromas of honey, wildflower, and white peach lead into an equally enticing palate.. Enjoy slightly chilled with fois gras, aged cheese, and just about any dessert.

 

Portugese Wine

White Wine

2008 Montinho Branco, Fernão Pires & Moscatel, Alentejano	£8.00
The nose is very fresh, quite light and has the flowery spice that comes from Muscat. Apple and gooseberry crispness and a good clean finish.
2008 Lavradores de Feitoria Branco, Douro	£8.75
Soft, easy drinking Portuguese white, good body, not overly oaked, plenty of fresh fruits
2008 Casa de Saima, Barriada	£9.50
Classic dry white from Bairrada, renowned for its ability to age. No oak, and in a very ripe year like 2008 the steely character normally found in its youth is tempered by soft ripe fruit. Treat it just like a good bottle of Chablis.

Red Wine

2007 Lavradores de Feitoria Tinto, Douro	£8.75
Formed in 1999 by some of the leading Port producers. Dirk Niepoort is at the helm, consistently crafting delicious wine. The Feitoria Tinto is a youthful Douro with a full ripe fruited character and complex array of rich flavours, encapsulating the diverse terroirs in which the grapes are grown.
2007 Drink Me, Douro, Dirk Niepoort	£11.00
The idea behind Drink Me is the creation of a pleasant, easy drinking red that retains complexity, mineral notes and great depth like the classic Douro wines. This is dark ruby wine with an intense dark and red fruit aroma with spicy character. On the palate it is young, appealing and fresh, with fruity tannins, good acidity and fine structure.
2004 Redoma Tinto, Douro, Dirk Niepoort	£30.00
Niepoorts top red from 60-year-old vines in the Cima Corgo region of the upper Douro. This wine is young and powerful with great richness and bold tannins. A very long wine with great ageing potential.
